2016/17 FIXTURES RELEASE DATE | 22nd JUNE

Following the bank holiday weekend’s Play-Off Finals, the Bluebirds now know which twenty-three sides they will be competing alongside in the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship season.

The fixtures will be released by the Football League at 9am on Wednesday, 22nd June 2016, meaning that City fans can see their full 2016/17 schedule in just three weeks’ time!

Barnsley’s 3-1 victory over Millwall at Wembley will see City face the Tykes for the first time since our promotion winning 2012/13 season. Joining them in the Championship this coming season will be League One champions Wigan Athletic and second-place Burton Albion.

Cardiff City have never faced Burton in the league before, with our only ever previous meeting being a 4-1 (AET) home victory at Cardiff City Stadium in the 2010/2011 League Cup.

City can also look forward to some big clashes against those dropping down from the Premier League, with Aston Villa competing outside of the top tier for the first time in twenty-nine years, alongside Norwich City and Newcastle United.

Stay tuned to cardiffcityfc.co.uk and our official Twitter feed for the latest on our 2016/17 fixture list on Wednesday, 22nd June!
