Alesha Dixon takes time out from Britain’s Got Talent for Avon

It was a case of Alesha calling, as Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon brought a splash of colour to a grey day in Cardiff city centre.

The former Mis-Teeq singer was in the city in her role as beauty and empowerment ambassador for beauty company Avon.

It was part of a recruitment drive for the company and to congratulate local representatives for having the best sales figures in the whole of the UK.

“I have come to Cardiff to make some noise and recruit more people for a company I am passionate about,” she exclaimed with her distinctive laugh.

“Nobody will be able to say no to me. The flexible earnings opportunity that Avon offers opens doors for women everywhere, and I’m proud to be involved with a company so driven to boosting women’s empowerment.”

After meeting local representatives of the company at a special event at the Park Plaza, Alesha joined Avon staff on Queen Street to encourage more women to set up their own independent business.

Shoppers had the chance to meet Alesha herself and talk to independent Avon representatives about how they started their businesses.

Britain’s Got Talent might have finished with the grand final on Saturday night, won by dance group Attraction, but it has not made Alesha take her foot off the pedal.

“I love taking part in Britain’s Got Talent and I thought we had a great final,” said Alesha, who is set to host a new Stars in their Eyes Saturday night show for ITV, called Your Face Sounds Familiar at the end of June.

“I think most of the acts have a great future ahead of them. It has been full on, but now it is finished it means I can devote time to events like this.”

Among the representatives she met, were sister-in-laws Emma and Sarah Protheroe.

Mother-of-three Emma, 33, from Aberdare, has found working for Avon very successful since she started more than two years ago.

“I now work for Avon full-time and my husband Robin has given up his job to become a house husband,” she said.

“It is such a great job because I can take the children to school in the morning, go off to work and still be there to pick them up at the end of the day. It has been a real bonus getting to meet Alesha. She is absolutely lovely and spent a lot of time talking to us all and having her picture taken.”
