Café’s absolutely brilliant response to customer complaining about LGBT sandwich

For us, it’s the simple pleasures in life that bring the most joy – such as nabbing a bargain at the shop or making a really good cup of tea.

But one thing that never fails to bring us joy is stumbling across sassy replies to bad TripAdvisor reviews – and one café recently had the best response to a customer complaining about a unique addition to their menu.

According to Wales Online, Stag Coffee in Cardiff came under fire on the review site for their LGBT sandwich, which was added to the menu last year, and helps raise money for anti-bullying and pro-LGBT charity, Stonewall, with 50p from each sale being donated.

One recent visitor claims to have been completely turned off their meal after spotting the sandwich on the menu and wasn’t afraid to tell the owner so.

Writing on TripAdvisor on Wednesday, a user known only as Lennypea, said: “Sexualised food? Eeeeergh. Saw the LGBT sandwich on the menu and made me not feel like eating.

“Can’t food be left alone and not politicised!? What’s next, the BJ Burger??”

Alongside this, the user then gave the business a one star rating.

Stag Coffee owner, David Craig, wasn’t prepared to put up with this kind of negativity and epically clapped back at the hater with his response.

They had the best response to the negative review

He said: “Hi Lennypea, thank you so much for your recent review of our little cafe. I am so sorry our LGBT sandwich upset you so much.

“We are always looking for new ideas to keep our menu fresh and erm sexy… Your suggestion of a BJ Burger has just given me goosebumps up and down my body!

“What an excellent idea! I think a Bacon-Jam Burger sounds fantastic, top it with a bit of melted cheese for extra sexiness and a nice big pickle and we’re on to a winner.

“We’ll even donate 50p for each burger we sell to Stonewall because clearly if a sandwich that may just feature the letters L G B T makes you say ‘Eeeeeergh’ and ‘not feel like eating’ then clearly we still have a long way to go.

“PS. We did think of a Bigot Burger, but that’s a bit old fashioned.”

Speaking to WalesOnline about the situation, Mr Craig explained: “I never respond to TripAdvisor reviews, I probably should, but this is the first time I though you know what, it’s only a bloody sandwich!

“It’s ridiculous. Of all the things to complain about in a restaurant.

“We introduced it last year about Pride time. We recently had a change of menu and put it back on so a lot of people might not have seen it before. We don’t sell a million of them but I think it’s still necessary.”

And is he actually considering creating a ‘BJ Burger’ – apparently so!

“I think we’ll definitely put it on,” he added.
