Cricket: Glamorgan call up Will Owen for LV County Championship trip to Kent

Glamorgan travel to Kent for their next match in the LV=County Championship with the four-day contest at Canterbury today scheduled to start at 11am on Wednesday, June 12th.

Mark Wallace’s side defeated Kent the last time the two counties met each other, at Cardiff last September.

That day Robert Croft laid the foundations of a seven-wicket victory by dismissing the last Kent batsman with his final delivery for the Welsh county before retirement.

The game at Canterbury last July ended in a draw, while their previous encounter in September 2011 at the St Lawrence ground saw the two teams take part in a pink-ball trial under the Canterbury floodlights.

The visitors were victorious as a fine century by Stewart Walters guided Glamorgan to an eight-wicket win.

With John Glover having sustained a finger injury in last week’s Championship match at Bristol, Will Owen has been drafted into Glamorgan’s squad.

Glamorgan will also be hoping that one-day skipper Marcus North is fit after the Australian sustained an injury to his tricep during the YB40 match against the Unicorns at Southend on Sunday and having to leave the field in the middle of an over.
