Cricket: Thomas, Carroll Glamorgan and Monmouthshire League

USK managed to beat the rain and visitors Pontypridd in Division One of the Thomas, Carroll Glamorgan  and Monmouthshire League.

Ponty batted first in a match reduced to 48 overs with Josh Waughington getting 49 and Phil Bishop 47  while Lorne Burns took 2-26 for  Usk and Ollie James 2-62.

Mark Thomas (53) and Henry  Lewis (33) laid the foundations for  Usk and Ian Clayton (53no) and  Richard Catchpole (37no) saw them  home by six wickets.

Bryn Reynolds took 3-55 for  Ponty.

Penarth batted first at home to St  Fagans in a game reduced to 34  overs. The Seasiders scored 153-6  with Adam Shantry getting 45,  James Docherty 34 not out and Tom  Sidford 20. Gareth Lennon took  2-18 for the Saints and Mansoor  Tariq 2-26.

St Fagans could only manage  130-6 with Chris Lawlor making 31  and Chris Thorne 30. Mark Thomas  took 3-17 for Penarth.

In Division Two, Radyr entertained Newbridge and went in first.  Rhodri Lloyd (34), the evergreen  Dave Skirrow (31), Jon Corden (28)  and Chris Van Os (22) all got runs as  Radyr reached 146 all out in a game  reduced to 36 overs.

Division Three third-placed side  Pontymister were at home to  Machen in a game reduced to 34  overs. Machen were dismissed for  146 in which skipper Gareth Jones  scored 42, Mike Fussell 32 and Rhys  Knox 30.

For Pontymister,  Mo Asif took  3-27 from five overs and Abbass  had 6-1-25-2.
