Cricket: Thomas, Carroll Glamorgan and Monmouthshire League Divisions Two …

WELSH Asians won at Vale to  stay top of Division Two while Croesyceiliog thumped visitors Creigiau and Miskin Manor just held off Radyr.

Stuart Roden scored 48 and  Will Davey 28 not out in a  last-wicket stand in excess of  50 with Luke Kear, as Croesy  reached 169 all out with Tom  Lloyd taking 3-22 and Dave  Martin 3-28. Creigiau were  then bowled out for 63 as  Kear’s brother Tom took 4-22  and Rhys Jones 3-9.

Miskin Manor made 260-6  thanks mainly to Steve  Meaden (52), Ben Edwards  (51) and Carl Whitely (41)  while Nick O’Neill took 3-57  for Radyr.

Rhodri Lloyd scored 91 and  Howard Stone 40 but in a tight  finish, Radyr ended five runs  short. Jonno Edwards took  2-46 for Miskin Manor.

At Bettws Lane, Ebbw Vale  reached 153 all out with Jamie  Nancarrow top scoring on 47  as Roger Panting took 3-17 off  8.4 overs for Malpas, David  Griffiths 3-42 off 10 and James  Francis 2-8 off 10.

That turned out to be  enough despite a battling 40  by Francis, 23 from Greg Simmons and 21 by Dave Martin  and Malpas were dismissed  for 124.

Paul Morgan took 3-30 for  Ebbw Vale, Nancarrow 2-6 off  four overs and Daryl Blake  2-12 off 10.

Brecon batted first at Newbridge and managed 133 all  out with Gwyn Phillips getting 60 and next best was Sam  Williams (19).

James Morgan took 3-13 for  Newbridge, Tom Kinsey 3-19  off seven overs and Cael Jones  2-24.

David Fortune scored 51  when Newbridge replied,  Morgan 33 and Ryan Watkins  was 27 not out when they  closed on 134-2 off 24 overs.

Newport Fugitives are still  looking for their first win of  the season after losing to  Barry at High Cross.

Dave Adams scored a fine  86 with 12 fours and a six and  captain Roy Emmott had 32  as the Fugitives reached 202-8  off their 50 overs.

Billy Usswald took 2-24 for  Barry, John Gee 2-32 and Shae  Ellis 2-42.

Opener Lee Morgan had to  retire hurt when Barry batted  but Gavin White made 88  with 15 boundaries and Nathan Baker got 82 not out with  12 fours and two sixes.

They put on 128 for the  second wicket and led Barry  to 203-1 from 33 overs.

In Division Three, Llantwit  Fardre lost at home to Dinas  Powis

The visitors reached 270-6  with Ian Southwell continuing  his rich vein of form with a  fine 107 and he was supported  by Gordon Hannah with 54.

Fardre gave it a go and skipper Stuart Clarke got 78 and  John Bluett 40 but Dinas Powis held them to 226 all out.

Nathan Piddock took 4-32,  Lewis Clarke 2-40 and Josh  Clogg 2-39.

Machen went down at home  to Cardiff Gymkhana. Jack  Dunn made 28 and Gareth  Jones 22 in the Machen total  of 168 all out with Mansoor  Tariq taking 4-30 off 10 overs  for Gymkhana and Murad  Mughal 3-29.

Gymkhana chased down the  total for the loss of five wickets with Aamir Sheikh getting  31, Tehmoor Tariq 30 and Usman Jaura 30. Gareth Harris  took 2-21 for Machen and Michael Fussell 2-35.

Wayne Etheridge made a  marvellous 114 for Monmouth  and with support from Paul  Swingwood (33) and Josh  Grey (24), they closed on 243-6  at home to Lisvane.

That wasn’t quite enough,  however, as Sree Reddivari  made 109 not out and Ali  Waldron 50 to take Lisvane to  244-9 in the last over. Henry  Breeze took 3-40 for Monmouth.

Jack Harman (49), Jonathan  Price (44), Lewis Spinetti (33)  and Matt Dennehy (31) all  chipped in as Ponthir reached  220 all out at home to Pencoed.

Rhys Morgan took 3-35 off  eight overs for Pencoed,  Richard J Gregory 2-32 off  eight and Gareth Hendry 2-37  off 10.

Gavin Davies made 63 when  Pencoed went in and Gregory  36 and they got the runs with  one wicket left. Mark Crook  took 3-16 off 10 tight overs for  Ponthir and Price 2-59.

Whitchurch Heath had first  knock at Pontymister and  scored 162 all out with Alex  Webb and Mark Salisbury getting 38 and Richard Hopcraft  17.

Iftikhar Ahmed took 3-41  off 10 overs for Pontymister  and Mo Asif returned a splendid 8-4-11-1.

Dan Jones made 29 early in  the Pontymister innings and  Zulfi Ali was 59 not out when  they reached 166-5 off 37  overs.

Ali Bhargava took 2-37 off  six overs for Heath and Mike  Richards deserved better  then 0-31 from his 10 overs.
