Cricket: Thomas, Carroll Glamorgan and Monmouthshire League

TABLE-TOPPING Panteg kept their unbeaten record in Division One of the Thomas, Carroll Glamorgan and Monmouthshire League with a 180-run demolition of St Fagans at Crofft-y-Genau Road.

Panteg’s Lloyd Smith (53), Carwyn James (49) and Ian Bird (37) helped set a target of 240-8. Kristian Bell took 3-38 and Owain Hopkins 2-29.

St Fagans slumped to 60 all out with Adam Harrison taking 4-32 and brother David 3-13, while Chris Mee had 2-8. 

Usk skittled out visitors Rogerstone for 75, 24 of them wides, with top scorer Andrew Trinder scoring just 17.  Lorne Burns took 3-16, Jake Roderick 3-21, Sam Morris 2-14 and James Colthart 2-16. Wicket keeper James Reid took five catches.

Burns then cracked  48 not out as Usk got the runs in just 7.5 overs.

Pontypridd skittled visitors Tondu  for 150. Jon Bussey made 55 and Matthew Close 35 as Tom Morgan took 4-27, Martin Oliver 10-8-3-1, while Andrew Collins’ 3-42 included a hat-trick. Ponty got the runs for six wickets via Gareth Hughes (35) and Morgan and Gareth Owen (25).

Brett Wadlan took 2-8 from 10 excellent overs and Brian Thomas 2-23.

Chepstow lost their unbeaten tag to visitors Sudbrook, who reached 256-8 with Micky Martin making 65, Lewis Morgan 59 and Matthew Kinchin 58. The hosts fell 16 runs short, Jason Dobbie making 96, Nick Folland 77 and Jamie Rayner 24, as Nathan Thomas took 4-31 and Mark O’Leary 3-32.

Abergavenny closed on 246-6 against Pentyrch with Luke Parfitt hitting 72 and Andrew Jones 50.  Connor Brown made 76 in reply, but they finished on 205-8.
