Female motorcyclist killed in collision on Rhoose bypass

A woman has died following a collision between a car and a motorbike of the Rhoose bypass overnight.

South Wales Police said the accident happened at 10.55pm on Wednesday evening on the A4226, between the roundabout junctions of the British Airways test beds and the monument roundabout of Cardiff Airport.

A red and black Yamaha motorbike travelling east towards Barry collided with a green Vauxhall Corsa, which was going in the opposite direction towards St Athan. The female driver of the motorbike sustained fatal injuries.

Police said that at the time of the crash, there were numerous vehicles leaving the British Airways test beds as the evening shift change was taking place, and officers appealed for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Anyone with information should contact South Wales Police in 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
