Every year the Fireworks in Cardiff seem to get better and better in comparison with previous years. The annual firework events now often include guest host presenters, music as well as  food and drink. You can even enjoy Bonfire night fireworks from the warmth of a hospitality suite if you so desire.

Basic Firework Planning

If you are visiting a planned event there are a few things worth mentioning.

Tickets: Usually cheaper if you by in advance, check to see if you can buy on the gate.

Parking: Expect a walk to the event and allow extra time.

Food and drink: Check to see if you are allowed to bring your own.

Timing: Don’t be late, the events are usually punctual.

The Sophia II works event is back on the 5th of November 2019 prices are adults £7.00 under 17s £3.50 students/OAP’s £4.00 Family ticket £18.00 the event opens at 6 pm with the displays starting at 7.45pm

If you like the idea of watching the fireworks but without freezing your toes you can treat yourself to a hospitality package upgrade which includes a burger or hot dog and chips, access to the bar and the warmth of the hospitality lounges you also get a token for a free drink!

Sparks in the Park – Fireworks in Cardiff

cardiff fireworks 2019A big display of Fireworks in Cardiff city centre. Location: Blackweir Fields on Saturday 2nd November 2019.

Event opens at 4:30pm.

Junior Display is scheduled for 5:45pm.

Main Display is scheduled for 7pm.

This years event is ticket only with no admission on the night.

The Whitchurch Fire Station will be hosting their Annual Firework Display on the 5th November, with the gates opening at 6.00pm.  Confirmed for 2019.

Bonfire at 7.00pm

Fireworks are at 7.30 pm and last about 30 mins.

Tickets are priced at £5 for a single ticket with children under4 years FREE. Tickets not currently available, (We will update as soon as we know, Tickets are on a ‘first come first served’ basis.

Whitchurch Fireworks in Cardiff

Location: Heol-Y-Nant, Whitchurch, CF14 6BS Cardiff.

Tickets available from Whitchurch Fire Station at £5 each. To avoid disappointment please buy your tickets in advance.

Ely On Par Fireworks 2019- Fireworks in Cardiff

This year the Ely Fireworks display is at On Par Driving Range on Bonfire Night.

Local singer Sophie Frear (https://www.facebook.com/sophiefrearmusic/) has agreed to perform for us before and after the fireworks.

All money raised this year will go to local groups and organisations through the Spotted in Ely Community Fund.

Fireworks in Cardiff area – Penarth Display

If you don’t mind a short drive then you could always visit Penarth. The event is now in its 38th year and is always well attended and organised. It is to be found at: Athletic Field, Lavernock Road, Penarth The event is organised by the Rotary, Round Table and Rugby Clubs of Penarth. North of Cardiff with a fantastic backdrop Caerphilly Castle adds to the drama with its dramatic shadows and dark moat.

Tickets are £8.50 / 029 2088 3143.

Entrance Charge – Free – Watching areas are Crescent Road, and Dafydd Williams Park. The firework display commences at 6.15pm and the main road of Caerphilly is closed. There is no parking between 5pm-9pm.

Annual Halloween & Bonfire Night – Friday, November 1, 2019 at 6 PM – 10:30 PM

Fireworks in Cardiff area – Barry Seafront

The Fireworks Fiesta on Barry Seafront is perfectly set up to be a success.

This year it is on Saturday 2nd November 4:30 pm – 9:30 pm at Barry Island not only a spectacular but plant of facilities on offer for a hot chocolate or a burger.

This is the 46th time the event has been held. The event will go ahead whatever the weather conditions except, perhaps, gales.

Barry island Fireworks - Fireworks in Cardiff area

Parking is £2 per car in the main car parks, but entry is FREE. The Rotary Club will be present for donations for all the effort that goes into the event which is always well organised and attended. £1 coins are favourite. There is limited disabled parking on Frairs Road.

There are road closures in action so get there in time, say about 6pm, you can catch a train to Barry Island at regular intervals. In addition a steam train is running from Hood Road Station at the Waterfront to Barry Island. The fireworks are fired at 7.45 p.m. but there are children’s rides etc. before.

The Rotary Club of Barry apologises to residents for the inconvenience caused during the road closure period (5.30 p.m. – 10.00 p.m.)

If you want to avoid the traffic then:

  • Barry Docks Station/Barry Station; Park at either site and take the regular Arriva train service to Barry Island. For times visit www.arrivatrain-swales.co.uk or ring 08457 48 49 50.

*   Hood Road Train Service; The Barry Tourist Railway will be operating a park & ride train service from the Hood Road station

to Barry Island Station from 6.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.

The fireworks spectacular at  Celtic Manor Resort, Saturday 2nd November, Gates open at 4.30pm (display starts at 6.00pm) lasts 15 minutes, the event is located at the Golf Academy.

Bonfire Walks - Fireworks in Cardiff

A feature of South Wales are its hills and valleys, these can be exploited on fireworks night so that you get a panoramic view of multiple fireworks in Cardiff displays. Locations for these are Caerphilly mountain overlooking Caerphilly Castle, or looking south from Caerphilly mountain on the Wenault. If you are in the Newport area you might want to consider an organised bonfire walk from Cwmcarn Forest Drive.

This popular walk on Bonfire night is up Twmbarlwm (Risca area) you can enjoy the fireworks of the surrounding valleys from this mystical place believed to had been an iron age settlement complete with roundhouses.

On your return to the centre, you can enjoy a hot dog/soup and a cuppa before returning home. Suitable for children  10 plus. Sturdy footwear is essential, warm weather appropriate clothes and a torch is a requirement.
