Free high-speed wi-fi access points will be set up in parts of Cardiff city centre by Christmas.
There will be access points in Queen Street, High Street and St Mary Street before free wireless access is rolled out in all public buildings, schools and buses by 2015.
We revealed last September
how ultrafast broadband would be rolled out across Cardiff after it secured nearly £11m in UK Government funding.
Culture Secretary Maria Miller said the investment will help transform Cardiff into a “super-connected city”, with an extra 22,000 homes and 1,400 business gaining access to faster internet speeds.
The plans will see the city’s communication cabinets upgraded with fibre optic technology.
