Friends Life t20: Glamorgan make it two from two with Warwickshire win

Graham Wagg took three wickets for Glamorgan

Nathan McCullum: Late cameo got Glamorgan over the line

Nathan McCullum proved his worth with bat and ball as Glamorgan edged a low-scoring Friends Life t20 contest with Warwickshire by four wickets at the SWALEC Stadium.

With the Dragons struggling in pursuit of just 119 on a difficult surface, New Zealand all-rounder McCullum smashed 18 not out from just five balls to see Glamorgan home with five deliveries to spare.

Warwickshire had earlier slumped to 118 all out after failing to get to grips with an awkward batting wicket in Cardiff.

Rikki Clarke top-scored with 42 and Darren Maddy cracked 30, however Graham Wagg (3-24) and Australian seamer Michael Hogan (2-18) put Glamorgan firmly on top at the break.

But the Bears began to sense an unlikely turnaround when openers Mark Wallace and Murray Goodwin fell inside the first two overs with only 11 runs on the board.

Chris Cooke (29) and Glamorgan skipper Marcus North (37) put the home side back on track with a 42-run stand for the third wicket and a Dragons victory appeared inevitable.

However, New Zealand off-spinner Jeetan Patel (2-27) removed both batsmen to leave the home side needing 17 runs off the final 11 balls when McCullum came to the crease.

The Kiwi all-rounder announced himself with a deft reverse-sweep for four off Patel and then launched his compatriot over midwicket for the first six of the innings.

With just four runs needed from the final over, bowled by Chris Wright, McCullum finished the match in style by dispatching the first ball over long-on for six more.
