Get on your bike for Barnardo’s at the annual South Wales Echo cycle ride

A bike enthusiast is banding together with his work colleagues to tackle this year’s South Wales Echo On Your Bike for Barnardo’s cycle ride.

And he is calling on other participants to give it their all for this Sunday’s 38 mile cycling event.

Kyle Darlington, 30, a business development manager at Stills branding agency, will be taking on the challenge with more than 10 others in an effort to contribute to the hard work being done by Barnardo’s Cymru.

“I’ve done the Barnardo’s ride for the past two years. We just thought that we should get a group together and enjoy a great day for charity and cycling,” said Kyle.

“At the moment cycling is massive and Britain is really loving getting involved in these kind of events. People are wanting to show that they cycle and wanting to show that they can compete.”

The 30-year-old fitness fanatic, who lives in Cardiff Bay, is calling on others across Wales to come and support a good course by getting as much sponsorship money as possible before the event.

Stills branding agency is a company of keen cyclists. Mr Darlington has competed in a number of cycling and athletic events and managing director Chris Carpenter rode 250 miles in five days for the Noah’s Ark Foundation.

And this Sunday, the Stills team plan to not only enjoy the South Wales Echo On Your Bike for Barnardo’s bike ride, but clock a competitive finishing time.

The South Wales Echo On Your Bike for Barnardo’s is a 38 mile cycle ride through the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan countryside and will take place on Sunday 19th May at 8am, starting and finishing at The Copthorne Hotel in Culverhouse Cross.

Barnardo’s Cymru is looking for volunteers for the event to carry out on-the-day tasks such as registering cyclists, selling raffle tickets and manning the water stations.

All entrants must be older than 12 by event day, which is May 19, with those aged 16 and under needing a parent or guardian with them for the ride.

Participants can register online at http://regonline.activeeurope.com/onyourbike or contact 029 2043 6236 for an entry form.
