Ryan Giggs scores star-studded opening for new eaterie

Football L legend Ryan Giggs is hoping to taste success in a new field – after the star-studded opening of his new restaurant.

The Manchester United and former Wales
ace welcomed soap celebrities, footballers and top musicians to the launch of George’s in Worsley, Manchester.

Among
the guests were former Reds team-mates Gary Neville and Nicky Butt, along with Bryan Robson, Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall, Andy Whyment and Jack P Shepherd, and chart stars Rowetta from Happy Mondays and DJ Dave Haslam. The restaurant is a venture between the Cardiff-born footballer and old schoolmates Kelvin Gregory and Bernie Taylor.

Giggs said: “We’ve known each other for 30 years and we always said it would be great to do something like this together.”

But
while he revealed his favourite dish on the menu was a chicken liver parfait, he said some of the dishes were mainly off-limits because of his athletic day job. He said: “I’ve not tasted too many of the desserts. I do have to be careful, but a little treat once a week isn’t a
problem.”
