Glamorgan have been boosted by the news that Australian quick bowler Shaun Tait will be available for the remainder of their NatWest T20 Blast campaign – including the quarter-final against Yorkshire on Thursday August 11.
The 33-year-old quick bowler, who has taken five wickets in as many games since arriving midway through the T20 season, will feature against Yorkshire and at Edgbaston for Finals Day on August 20, should Glamorgan qualify.
Tait has proven a dangerous asset with his raw pace, often taking early wickets to help Glamorgan restrict the opposition’s batting lineup. His dismissal of Peter Trego in the seven-wicket victory over Somerset in Cardiff will live long in the memory, as Tait uprooted the batsman’s off stump with a peach of a delivery.
Glamorgan Chief Executive Hugh Morris confirmed the man nicknamed ‘the Wild Thing’ will continue with the Welsh county.
“Shaun is staying with us until the conclusion of the competition,” said chief executive Hugh Morris.
“That was the basis on which we signed him. He is a top-class international fast bowler and we have proved this year you can get some early wickets through using our pace attack.
“Shaun has made his mark and we are looking forward to keeping him until the end of the competition.”
All roads lead to the quarter-final against Yorkshire Vikings at The SSE SWALEC on Thursday August 11, with tickets £10 for adults and £5 for under 17s.
Morris was keen for a bumper crowd to cheer Glamorgan to glory in the quarter-final.
“We were really encouraged by the crowd we had for the last group game against Somerset as we got 7,500 into the ground,” said Morris.
“It was a fantastic atmosphere and a really good night with some excellent cricket.
“We wanted to reward our members and supporters and give them an opportunity to help fill the ground for the quarter-final.”
