Teenager needed hospital treatment after alleged assault at Cardiff’s Euro 2016 fanzone

Police in Cardiff are appealing for witnesses to an alleged assault in the city’s Euro 2016 fanzone shortly before kick-off between Wales and Belgium on Friday.

South Wales Police said an 18-year-old man from Cardiff was making his way through the crowd while carrying two pints of beer to join his friends near the front of the fanzone in Bute Park.

They said the teenager was then assaulted and struck in the face by two people, one of whom is described as a man aged around 27.

The teenager later required hospital treatment for his injuries.

Anyone who saw the incident or has any information is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, quoting reference number 1600246602.
