2. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

3. National Youth Orchestra of Wales

This year the oldest national youth orchestra in the world celebrates 70 years of first class music making, and returns to St David’s Hall for this its final concert of the 2016 tour, once again showcasing the fantastic talent of its members. Carlo Rizzi conducts the Orchestra in a wonderful programme which includes a specially written piece by NYOW Alumnus Gareth Wood in celebration of this incredible milestone anniversary.

4. Status Quo

Status Quo

Headlining at Caldicot Castle, Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt, the Quo are celebrating five decades in the music business, with hit singles like Down Down, Caroline and Rockin’ All Over The World.

5. Wes Anderson Adventure Day

A bumper day of Wes Anderson-flavoured goodies at the Norwegian Church in Cardiff Bay makes for a more interesting day out that just going to the multiplex. Darkened Rooms are putting on Fantastic Mr Fox, Moonrise Kingdon and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.

6. Footloose

Everybody Cut Loose as the explosive Rock’n’Roll musical Footloose bursts on to the stage at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre.

Based on the 1980s riveting screen sensation, which took the world by storm with its youthful spirit, dazzling dance and electrifying music. Footloose tells the story of city boy Ren who has to move to a rural backwater in America where dancing is banned.

All hell breaks out as Ren breaks loose and soon has the whole town up on its feet.

7. Party in the Parc

Current electro-pop darlings, Years Years, who won over Glastonbury last month with their set-closing light show, are the main men at the Pride Cymru event , and will perform their Platinum-selling album, Communion. Also on the bill are Izzy Bizu, who sang the theme song for the BBC’s Euro 2016 coverage and international dance act Maribou State.

But that’s not it, Jax Jones and Nimmo will also perform at the gig.

8. Pride Cymru 2016

Actress, singer and LGBT activist Heather Peace will be performing, along with Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Danny Beard.

Eurovision’s UK entry duo Joe and Jake and nineties girl group, Big Reunion stars B*Witched will also be on the bill, joined by The Voice contestants Jordan Gray and Leighton Jones.

9. Brecon Jazz Weekend

Yes, there will be the sound of music floating around the Beacons this summer as musical acts old and new descend on the market town to keep up the tradition of the Brecon Jazz Festival.

As well as the scrumpy sounds of The Wurzels, the Brecon Jazz Futures programme includes the likes of Kizzy Crawford, Dowally, Asterope and lots, lots more.

15. National Youth Dance Wales

NYDW Artistic Director, Kerry Nicholls returns to lead this year’s Company in an exacting programme that combines artistry, clear technique and high energy. The programme will include aM, a work that wowed audiences at Apex Rising 2015 – an international youth dance programme at Sadlers Wells, London – alongside a brand new piece of dance created by Guest Choreographer, Eleesha Drennan, and Maelstrom by Anna Kenrick for NYDCS.
