Santa Claus is coming to town – Mountain Ash that is.
The Christmas in Mountain Ash event, which promises festive fun for all the family, is happening this weekend.
When is it on?
It’s on Saturday, December 5, from 10am until 3pm.
Father Christmas will be in residence throughout the day and will be taking part in a special reindeer parade through the town centre.
Organised by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, in association with and part-funded by Lower Cynon Cluster Communities First, shoppers are encouraged to come into town and join in the festivities – and also pick up a few bargains and Christmas presents at the same time.
What’s going on?
Attractions include a Festive Funfair, Christmas Market, Giant Snow Globe, street entertainment, and Santa’s Grotto, situated at Mountain Ash Day Centre in Oxford Street.
When’s the reindeer parade?
Shoppers and visitors are asked to line the route for the Reindeer Parade along Oxford Street at noon.
Where can I park?
To coincide with all of its Christmas events across the county borough, the council has announced free parking at all of its car parks after 10am every day throughout December.
What other Christmas events are on?
A week Saturday, December 12, will see Aberdare transformed into a winter wonderland when Santa takes a trip to the town centre with his reindeer.
The area around Green Street, Library Square, Canon Street and Commercial Street will see a number of attractions popping up for the day – including Santa and his reindeer, live music, a snow globe, face painting, a children’s fun fair and much more.
‘It’s all about community spirit’
Coun Andrew Morgan, leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, said: “This is a special time of year, and despite the tough economic times, the council is working with local groups and organisations, such as Communities First, to put on these family events.
“It is so important that community spirit continues to thrive so do your best to come along and celebrate Christmas with us in Mountain Ash on December 5
“We are also supporting local businesses by bringing people into our town centres at the busiest time of the year.”
