Wales is home to countless wonderful pubs, and boast some of the very best .
While many of us will have our locals, favourites and musts to visit when we visit another part of the country, there’s one pub in Pembrokeshire that’s been named the best of the bunch – in all of Wales and England.
Sawday’s, a specialist travel company which selects some of the finest places to eat and stay across the UK, has named The Stackpole Inn as the “best all-rounder”.
Sawday’s has been finding, visiting and choosing brilliant places to stay for 25 years “for people who love special”.
The Bristol-based travel guide described the pub as “dreamy” and somewhere “you won’t want to leave”.
The judges said: “The food is tasty, the bedrooms are super, kids and dogs are welcomed. You won’t want to leave and it really wasn’t difficult to choose our best all-rounder.”
Only a short walk from nearby Barafundle Bay, which was voted one of the best beaches in the world in 2017 , the pub is a favourite of locals and tourists alike.
The award came as a surprise to Gary and Becky Evans, the couple who own and run the pub.
Gary said: “I’m not sure what the criteria was, but it’s nice to know we are basically the best of the best.
“We are so proud of our amazing team at The Inn and the recognition for the hard work everyone, both front of house and in the kitchen, puts into making the dining experience at Stackpole so special for our guests.
“We constantly strive to offer a fantastic taste of Pembrokeshire for our guests using the very best local fresh fish and ingredients throughout our menu.”
