This was the scene during a Welsh boxing night in Cardiff on Saturday.
Two boxing fans who had been looking forward to the evening at the Ice Arena Wales, in Cardiff, were left disappointed after they felt they were forced to leave early due to a fight breaking out – outside the boxing ring.
Lawyer Ieuan Haywood, 27, who filmed the footage, was at the event with a friend and colleague.
‘It was shambolic’, says punter
He said his friend had paid £200 for ringside seats, but before they could get to Welsh boxer Liam Williams’ fight, they were forced to leave because a fight broke out nearby.
Ieuan, from Newport, said: “It was shambolic. It was shoddy from the start, to be fair.”
On Liam Williams’ fight, Ieuan added: “It was probably the best fight of the night, and we missed it. It was pathetic.
“You do think it’s going to be a certain standard. I felt like we were at an away venue, almost.”
‘We are studying the footage we have’
When we contacted Queensberry Promotions, who organised the event, WalesOnline was told that the promoters were taking the incident seriously and were investigating.
A spokesman said: “We are studying the footage we have and and liaising with the police with regards to the perpetrators. We’re certainly not ignoring it.”
He added that anyone with an issue or complaint should contact the promoter directly.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said: “A 25-year-old man from the London area was arrested on suspicion of assault. He was subsequently released with no further action.”
