Top two win as Penarth continue to pile pressure on Panteg

PANTEG lost their unbeaten tag to Sudbrook last week but put that defeat behind them to thrash Tondu at Bryn Road and stay top of Division One of the Thomas, Carroll Glamorgan and Monmouthshire League.

The Waterwheelers were whipped out for just 43 as Adam Harrison took 4-20, Lloyd Smith 3-8 and Chris Mee 3-14.

James Reid made 15 as Panteg got the runs needed for the loss of two wickets

Second-placed Penarth beat Abergavenny to stay hot on Panteg’s heels. Abergavenny reached 216-9 in their 50 overs. Their innings was dominated by Cameron Herring’s 118.

Rhys Morgan made a marvellous 112 when Penarth batted and they finished on 220-5.

Chepstow’s woes continued as visitors St Fagans set a target of 206-9 which is more than Chepstow can manage at the moment.

Freddie John made 47, Owain Hopkins 44 and Chris Lawlor 37 while Jason Dobbie returned 4-25 and Rhodri Fawsitt 3-36.

Chepstow slumped to 132 all out. Mansoor Tariq took 3-29, and Andrew Leering 3-30.

Usk made 213 all out at Pentyrch with Ollie James getting 63 and Ian Clayton 61 as Mike Grossett took 3-16.

Gareth Gardiner got 55 not out in the Pentyrch innings but Huw Wilcox (3-39) managed to restrict them to 182-9.

Phil Bishop scored 82 and Andrew Collins 46 in the Pontypridd total of 231 all out against Rogerstone at Ynysangharad Park. Andy Harris took 3-49 and Sandun 5-45.

Rogerstone’s reply was 168-9 with Harris making 85 as Glen Williams took 5-30.

Sudbrook opted to bat against visitors Blackwood and set a target of 265-8 thanks to Lewis Morgan (82), Micky Martin (71) and Mike Shaw (33no). Richard Matthews took 3-49  and his brother Robert 2-34.

Matthew Evans (73) and Callum Herring (69) kept Blackwood on track  but they were finally all out  for 253. Morgan took 4-59 for Sudbrook.
