South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said nobody was trapped in the car but that a young male passenger and a female pedestrian were treated for minor shock.

The ambulance service said it sent two ambulances to the scene and that it took two people to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff with injuries which were not believed to be serious.

South Wales Police said the car is now being recovered.

The road has remained open but drivers said traffic is queueing around the junction.
