Wales set for 10 more day of sunshine, say forecasters

Wales has been basking in glorious conditions that forecasters predict will continue for another 10 days.

The country enjoyed the hottest temperatures of the year so far, with Cardiff the warmest place in Wales at 28°C.

Elsewhere Hawarden, in Flintshire, saw the mercury rise to 25°C, Tenby, in Pembrokeshire, 22°C, and Newtown in Powys, 25°C.

Today will bring more of the same, with the Welsh capital again set for sunny 28°C temperatures.

Met Office forecaster Alexander Burkill said: “We’ve got an area of high pressure over the UK and that’s going to stay over us and dominate the weather for the next seven to 10 days really and even beyond, especially across southern parts of the UK.

“Looking through the rest of the week Monday and Tuesday look as though they’ll be very sunny, with lots of warm sunshine turning hot in places.”

The middle of the week will be fractionally cooler, but by the weekend temperatures will warm up again.

Mr Burkill added: “We’re looking at maximum temperatures close to the mid-20s, 23°C, 24°C (in the middle of the week).

“But then as we head into the weekend temperatures warm up again and we should see temperatures pretty similar to what we’ve seen over this weekend.”
