Paramount Interiors has made a key appointment to its board as part of the company’s continuing strategy to grow its share of the UK office design, fit-out and furniture market.
The Cardiff-based business has appointed Brian Winward as regional director with responsibility for developing new business within the south west of England, along the M4 corridor and in London.
A former managing director and co-owner of Cirencester-based office specialist 3 Sphere, Mr Winward has more than 40 years’ experience within the interior design industry.
He began his career as an architect working for leading practices in South Africa, London and New York before specialising in office design and project management.
In 1991 he joined Design Core Consultants in Cirencester and later became operations and project director at the re-named Space Works.
In 2006 he undertook a management buy-out of the company along with his business partner, Matthew Ellis, which led to the company re-branding as 3 Sphere.
During his career Mr Winward has designed and project managed many prestigious office refurbishment and new build projects for leading brands including Cartier, Smiths News Group, GlaxoSmithKline, Lloyds TSB and Alfred Dunhill.
He joins Paramount at a time when it is seeking to significantly increase the number of design, fit-out and furniture projects that it undertakes in key areas of England including London.
The company recently re-opened an office in central London and in January it also opened its new 7,500 sq ft show office in St Mellons in Cardiff.
Paramount has recently completed two major projects in the Newport area, including the fit-out of gocompare.com’s new offices and the design, fit-out and furniture supply for the offices of defence and security company Cassidian.
Nigel Roberts, managing director of Paramount, said: “Brian’s appointment to the board is an indication of our determination and ambition to grow the business in key areas of the UK.
“He is an extremely talented designer who is well regarded within the industry and not only brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge, but also a very strong network of contacts. I am sure he will be an important asset to the company as we grow over the coming years.”
Mr Winward said: “Having worked in office design and furniture for many years, I know what an excellent reputation Paramount has both within the industry and among its clients.
“The company has a fantastic vision and a great brand that perfectly matches my own vision for the future of the workplace.
“Good design, both pragmatic and inspiring, is at the forefront of my aspirations, and I look forward to introducing new clients to the Paramount approach.”
