There’s a lot going on in Wales this month, there’s always a lot going on in Wales! But here’s our round up of ten great things to do in Wales in April.
As usual, we’ve tried to include a blend of things to do in Wales for adults, families, and kids, including theatre, gigs, concerts and sports events.
We’ve also included a mixture of events from different parts of the country, so hopefully you can find some things to do near you.

Venue : Swansea Grand Theatre
Tickets : £21.50 – £24.50
In aid of Treat Trust Wales, the charity’s patron Rob Brydon returns to the Swansea Grand Theatre for an evening of sit down comedy musings, readings from his autobiography “Small Man In A Book”, and the odd musical interlude. Rob wants us to make clear that this is not an evening of stand up comedy, though there will be comedy and he will stand up.
The TREAT charity aims to build a cutting-edge rehabilitation and well-being centre helping people through illness and disability back into life. There is no current facility of this kind in Wales.
Miss Wales/Mister Wales 2013 Grand Final

Venue : St David’s Hall, Cardiff
The grand final of Miss Wales 2013 will take place to choose the young women who will represent Wales on the Miss World stage in Bali in the summer of 2013. The event will see around 60 young women compete for the crown.
Miss Wales is dedicated to Beauty with a Purpose and is committed to raising funds for good causes and empowering the young women involved. In recent years the competition has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity. The Mister Wales 2013 final will also take place on the same night.

Max Boyce is a Welsh icon. His albums have sold in their millions and subsequently he has been awarded 6 gold discs and an MBE! His album Doctors Papers soared to number 1 in the album charts, the first and only comedy album ever to do so!
Over the years his BBC TV series’ have been hugely successful with Max Boyce’s World Cup Journey nominated for a BAFTA award. In 2011 Max Boyce: The Road to Treorchy and Max Boyce: Live at Treorchy… Again smashed the TV network ratings and became the most viewed show in Wales at that time.

T’Pau is a hugely successful pop/rock band fronted by Carol Decker. Instantly memorable with a big voice and a bigger mass of red hair, Carol made an undeniable impact on the public.
The band who formed in Shropshire in 1986 had a plethora of worldwide hits, including ‘Heart Soul’, which stayed on the U.S billboard chart for six months, peaking at number four and of course most notably ‘China In Your Hand’, which occupied the number one slot in the UK for five weeks.
Alongside the single’s success their debut album, Bridge Of Spies also reached the coveted top spot and went quadruple platinum in the UK: the country went T’Pau mad! The album produced a total of five hit singles including ‘Valentine’, ‘Sex Talk’ and ‘I Will Be with You’.

Venue : Cardiff University Students’ Union
Join over 20,000 students in front row seats at the Millennium Stadium, watching the future stars of international rugby do battle to bring home the Varsity Cup. Players have gone on to play for the Cardiff Blues, Ospreys, Llanelli Scarlets and even internationally for Wales.
Cardiff are looking for another victory after their win in 2012, but with Swansea having a history of fielding players like Alun Wynn Jones, Ritchie Pugh and Dwayne Peel, the challenge will certainly be tough. Tickets are on sale from the Box Office from 14th February – don’t miss out!

Birmingham Stage Company presents James and the Giant Peach James lives with Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker, the most revolting Aunts in England. They make him work and slave and never let him play with other children.
Then one day he meets a mystical old man who gives him a bag that contains the strongest magic the world has ever known. When James accidentally spills the bag near an old peach tree, the most incredible things start to happen – and James embarks on the adventure of a lifetime with the most amazing group of characters you could ever meet!
