Angler airlifted to Cardiff from Blue Anchor Bay

The angler slipped and suffered a suspected broken leg.

When the RNLI arrived, first-aid trained volunteers carried out an initial assessment and decided the angler should be immediately taken to hospital.

A coastguard helicopter from St Anthan attended and took the man to the hospital in just over ten minutes.

A Minehead RNLI spokesman said: “The crew weren’t at all happy with the injury because the casualty appeared to be suffering from impeded blood supply to his foot.

“We could have got him back to Minehead very quickly but the issue would then have been the wait for an ambulance.

“Getting him airlifted off meant he could be given the proper attention his injury needed within a matter of minutes.”
