Cardiff City continues to proudly support the Show Racism the Red Card campaign, and this Saturday joins the annual Fortnight of Action as we host Nottingham Forest.
The match follows on from the club hosting an anti-racism club event with pupils from Lansdowne Primary School and Evenlode Primary School. The pupils visited Cardiff City stadium to take part in an educational workshop and role play press conference, interviewing Ben Turner and Fábio da Silva and listening to former Cardiff City defender Steve Jenkins about their views on racism in football and society. This was the ninth occasion the club has hosted a SRtRC event and we will be honoured to continue to support the campaign and educational events next season.
On Saturday both Cardiff City and Nottingham Forest will be wearing anti-racism T-shirts prior to kick off to show our support for Show Racism the Red Card and its anti-racism work. The SRtRC logo also features on the cover of match programme CF11.
SRtRC Campaign worker Jason Webber spoke about the Fortnight of Action saying, “This year’s Fortnight of Action will see a record number of clubs and leagues unite across Wales in match actions. Racism continues to spoil the beautiful game and we must all do our bit to step up our efforts in challenging these issues to once and for all eradicate it from football and society.”
Supported by the Football Association, the Fortnight of Action has been running since 2007 in Wales. More clubs and leagues have joined the action weeks each season. This year will seeover eighty clubs across nine leagues involved.
More coverage on Show Racism the Red Card will follow before the weekend, including our exclusive In the City show on Cardiff City Player and YouTube.
