Our Greater Manchester Committee joined with Lancashire Country Cricket Club (LCCC) to launch a major campaign to tackle crime in Greater Manchester and Lancashire. The Catch ’em out campaign challenges the public to stand up to criminals operating in their community and report their activities anonymously to us.
Crimestoppers at Old Trafford
We will be attending all of this season’s Natwest Twenty20 (T20) Blast matches at Emirates Old Trafford as well as the Investec Test Match against India. Our volunteers will be talking to the public and giving out information on our work and how to contact us with our messages displayed on the big screen during matches. We will also be attending community days at theground and schools events to promote Fearless.org.
Gary Murray, North West Regional Manager said: “Many people don’t know what we do or how they can contact us, so this is a great way to get the message across to the public. Each year over 20,000 people contact us in the North West leading to over 3,000 arrests; so Crimestoppers really does make a difference to communities. Let’s hope we catch quite a few criminals out.”
Cricketer Stephen Parry launches Catch ’em out
Lancashire and England spinner Stephen Parry helped launch the campaign during the LV= County Championship match against Somerset in June 2014 and said: “Being born and bred in Lancashire, I know how important safer communities are and the difference that Crimestoppers makes. I am delighted to support the Catch ’em out campaign and hope that working together we will be a winning team.”
