Huge fish weighing 53lbs finally caught in British lake after years avoiding anglers

It has stalked a massive lake in Devon but despite years of trying no fisherman has ever managed to snare it – until now.

The leather carp – a variant of the common carp and is unscaled – has lurked the waters of the fishing lakes at Anglers Paradise near Halwill, Devon.

Owner Zyg Gregorek said people have been trying to catch it for years.

But now, northern angler Ryan Owen has landed the beast, and was so proud that he waded into the water to claim his prize – then immediately threw it back in.
