CITY goalkeeper David Marshall and midfielder Craig Conway have been called-up to the Scotland squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Belgium and Macedonia.
Marshall and Conway, looking for their seventh and sixth caps respectively, will join up with the squad following the Bluebirds’ home clash with Everton at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday, 31st August.
‘Keeper Marshall’s last outing for the Scots came during their 2-0 defeat to Serbia in March, that appearance ending a near three and a half year absence from the first-team fold for City’s number one.
Conway was a part of the side who sensationally beat Croatia 1-0 in Zagreb in June, coming on as a 75th minute substitute for Wigan Athletic’s Shaun Maloney to claim his fourth international cap. He also came on as a second-half substitute in the Scots’ recent 3-2 defeat by England at Wembley.
Despite not being able to qualify for next summer’s World Cup now, all Scottish eyes are now on preparations for the next qualification campaign for Euro 2016, with their cause greatly helped by that win over Croatia in June. It was a result that saw them jump 24 places in the world rankings to 50th, and secured them a place in pot 4 for the draw for the Euro qualifiers.
