It’s an angler’s dream – a Midlands fishing lake all to yourself in the peace of the blissful Cotswolds’ town of Cheltenham. In the grounds of Swindon Hall, the lake is up for grabs at a Birmingham auction this month(July).
Just down the M5, an hour from Birmingham, it has scenery and angling opportunities akin to those seen in shows like Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing. The lake is being promoted on Rightmove ahead of an auction by Edgbaston-based Cottons.
The new owner will have the lake at the disposal anytime they wish. The spot is hidden in rural Swindon Village on the outskirts of Cheltenham.

The fishing lake goes under the hammer on July 13 at 1pm in Birmingham. The property sale takes place at Avery Fields, 79 Sandon Rd, Edgbaston in a public auction that includes a live stream of the bidding.
Those who can’t make the auction or join online are able to bid by telephone. The auction company has given a guide price of between £35,000 and £40,000.
Cottons Auctions said it was a freehold well matured and maintained fishing lake in Swindon Village, a suburb of Cheltenham.
“The lake benefits from having seating areas, compost bins and mature shrubs and trees and an island located in the middle with bridge access,” added an auction spokesperson.
“The lake is situated next to Swindon Village Park and can be accessed off Church Road which in turn is found off Hyde Lane.”
Photos show how the fishing lake is amidst the leafy Gloucestershire countryside. The plot even has an island in the centre of the lake.

The lake is within two miles of Cheltenham train station for those who want to travel down by public transport.
