The Dr Who Experience in Cardiff, postcode CF10 4GA, is a must visit for fans of the long running BBC show and is one of the most popular attractions in the city.
Located at Porth Teigr in Butetown, where filming of the series takes place, The Dr Who Experience provides an interactive journey taking you on a tour through time and space. Help the Doctor fight his foes as you come face to face with Cybermen, Sonatrans and, of course, the infamous Daleks; you can even have a go at flying the Tardis. With exclusively filmed sequences full of amazing special-effects, including appearance from the current Dr Who, Matt Smith, the multi-sensory adventure is a great day out for family and fans alike.
Once you have finished your adventure, there is so much more to see and so at the Dr Who Experience. Features include the largest collection of props and memorabilia anywhere in the world, specially created sets and interactive exhibits, a glimpse behind the scenes and how Dr Who is made, information on the previous eleven doctors as well as the spin-off show Torchwood, and even a chance to walk like a Cyberman or Scarecrow.

The Dr Who Experience is open everyday except Tuesday between 10.00am and 5.00pm, with the last entry at 3.30pm; it is open everyday during school holidays. On the door entrance costs £15 per adult, £11 per child under 16 years of age, under 5’s are free and a family ticket (2+2) is £46. Cheaper prices are available online but may incur a variable booking fee!
Dr Who Filming Locations in Cardiff
By taking one of the official Dr Who walking tours, you will be taken to 31 locations around Cardiff where the series has been filmed. These include the Police Station which featured in the Blink episode, the River Song American Diner in the Impossible Astronaut and the Wales Millennium Centre which has featured in a number of programmes including the Girl who Waited and The Sound of the Drums.
Written by the well known Dr Who novelist, Gary Russell, tours cost just £5 per adult, are free for children and really are a ‘must do’ for any fan. Please note tours only take place at weekends and there are limited tickets available.
