CITY’s Development Squad will face Brighton Hove Albion in the second round of qualifying for the inaugural Under-21 Premier League Cup.
The tie will be played during the week commencing the 21st October or 28th October 2013.
The Under-21 Premier League Cup has been introduced this season and could see the likes of Manchester United or Arsenal take on Kevin Cooper’s Development side.
Fifty-two academies have entered the U21 Premier League Cup with the draw for Qualifying Round 1 and Qualifying Round 2 having taken place this morning.
All games will be played at the home sides’ stadium with the Bluebirds entering in Qualifying Round 2 as a Category 2 status Academy.
The one-off fixtures in the competition will be played on a regional basis until the Round of 16, whereupon the draw becomes national. The final will be played over two legs home and away at the main stadia of both teams.
Regional qualifiers will be held to progress to the round of 32, at which stage Category 1 academies will enter the competition.
City’s Development side have been in fine form this season, winning both of their opening matches in the PDL South 2 league, maintaining a 100% record of wins including five pre-season games.
Next up for Kevin Cooper’s side in the league is a local derby with Swansea City to be held at Cardiff City Stadium on Monday, 16th September, (kick-off 7pm).
